2020 TACE Conference

President's Message
Share |
Welcome to the TACE 2014 Annual Conference - Joining Forces.

It is hard to believe that we are back in Austin once again joining forces to make a difference in our communities, the lives of students, and the workforce of Texas. Many continuing education departments are being impacted by HB 5 with the request to offer dual credit CE courses. I encourage you to talk with colleagues at the conference to learn how other institutions are responding with new opportunities. I also encourage you to utilize the TACE website to network after the conference, stay in-touch with colleagues throughout the year, and to even survey the membership to gain valuable information. TACE is committed to providing members with up-to-date, factual news regarding national, state, and local issues affecting the welfare and status of continuing and workforce education in Texas. The website,, makes available many avenues to access sponsors, colleagues, and agencies -- your forces. If you have not visited the site then please do soon.

The very essence of TACE is to maintain a communication network and arena for mutual association and the exchange of ideas among professionals, in addition to supporting professionalism, integrity, and quality. Annually, continuing education and workforce colleagues from across the state join forces to learn from one another. Each year the information and contacts I take back to my college is invaluable. This year’s theme speaks to the fact that when we join forces differences are made - in our institutions, with our students, in meeting the mission of community and technical colleges. In our respective colleges we remain the most flexible and responsive units while working with fewer and fewer resources. I hope that you find a couple of ideas while you are here to assist your force.

I want to remind you that our sponsors are part of our forces, too. Please visit with each sponsor in the lobby area they represent great products that one (or many) of your colleagues supports. You may not need today what a particular sponsor has to offer, but you never know when things can change. Build up your arsenal and be prepared!
Lastly, I want to encourage you to get involved in TACE. There are many opportunities to serve, including the Conference Planning Committee (CPC). To those of you who have been volunteering, I thank you. If you have any questions about these opportunities feel free to ask me. And congratulations to the 2014 CPC for all the hard work you have done to make this conference happen! Fabulous job!

On behalf of the TACE Board and the Conference Planning Committee, I welcome you to Austin! I hope that you will use this venue to find new and innovative ways to join forces.
